The report measures the inventories and sales of manufacturing, retail, and wholesale establishments. Inventories are reported at current cost, if possible. Sales reflect manufacturers' shipments as well as retail and wholesale transactions. The inventory/sales ratio (I/S) will be calculated from these two sets of data.
